In the 1960s this hairdressing shop went under the name of E. Shere. Carol Coombs took it over in 1976 and called it Miss Carol. At the time of writing Carol is still there where she runs a traditional hair salon catering for her many loyal customers. This hairdressing shop is an important part of the local community. She has the help of Janette Savage who has been with Carol for the last 28 years.

The shop is renowned for its window displays. These are changed monthly and generally depict a topical theme, Easter, Christmas etc. June Pugh recently retired as window dresser and Jasmine Main has taken over. The window displays are a big attraction not only for people walking past the shop but also for passengers in vehicles travelling the main road.

In 2011 the shop even produced its own calendar created by Angie Butler, a great success story for this part of Church Road.
